Thank you Ben and everybody involved, that was great fun! I particularly enjoyed the snail racing and tea duelling. And a group of around 40 steampunks in full gear walking along the street where HG Wells once lived.
Other people's reactions are always interesting, the funniest are the ones who turn away in an "I didn't see that and I'm not going to look back to check in case it's still there" way. - Chris Hicks

THE SURREY STEAMPUNK CONVIVIAL

The Surrey Steampunk Convivial is held in The Station

Stoneleigh, Epsom, Surrey, - Great Britain

Once again, there will be tickets for the Saturday, the Sunday, or you can save a little money by purchasing a weekend pass. As always, children enjoy free entry (up to the age of 18, the coming of age) provided they are accompanied by an adult.

It is primarily a family fun day, with a fancy dress theme. There is a suggested dress code which is Victorian/Steampunk - and whilst dressing up is not compulsory of course, it is highly encouraged!

There will be an wonderful array of stalls selling hand made jewellery and other items, so come prepared to do some shopping!

There will be musical entertainment during the day, as well as lots of silly sporting events such as snail racing, tea duelling and costumed ostrich racing. (That's ostrich costumes, not ostriches in costumes...)

Indoors, there will be talks, exhibitions and book readings, story telling and all manner of things to delight and entertain throughout the day.

There may be a miniature hot air balloon attempt once again (This has never yet been entirely successful, but you never know...) and possibly a remote controlled helium balloon zeppelin inside the hall.

In the afternoon, we have some great music lined up for your pleasure!
