Familiars (or small stuffed animals...usually with marvellously inventive names) have a character all of their own. However, that character is tested when presented with a challenge like the Fling-a-Familiar bazooka! Requiring three operators - an Aimer, a Loader (usually the owner), and a Flinger - the idea is to fling the little thing as far from you as possible - either into a hat or towards a target. We wish all Familiars being flung this weekend good luck!
Winner of the Terrarium competition, which formed the maker's award in November, Steve Webb is depicted here accepting his certificate being presented by the wonderful Darren Gooding - well, he will be accepting it when he's finished grinning! There were lots of entries for this - and we are looking forward to more for February's Steam a Nerf gun challenge! Well done Steve!
Guy Padfield's marvellous Tea Rex wowed us all at the Convivial - but will Tea Rex be pipped at the post this February by ANOTHER contender called Tea-Rex?? Splendid teapot racing will have the usual obstacles: the Ramp of Doom, the Leap of Faith and the Seesaw of Indecision - and of course The Tunnel of Love. Who will win? Our money's on Tea-Rex!
The beautiful and talented Belladonna Hades wowed us with her bisquit dunking prowess in November - here she is picking up her award for Robust Nom - and she's set to defend her title against current holder of the Nonsuch Ashes, nimble mouthed David Cole...and there are rumours that there may well be a three way mexican stand off as well, as Jamie Hanley, the dashing winner of Steampunks In Space joins the fray!
