Steampunk Judges declare new Genius World Record

Yes, the Genius Steampunk Judges were once again on hand to adjudicate the hat-stacking competition, and declared a brand new world record - 21 hats to beat, chaps. It's a new pinnacle. Jean Riddler took this splendid photo and managed to include a lovely dog who caused a little consternation for a moment whilst the stack was on the brink of teetering - fortunately just a sniff - although a 21 hat hatstack is nothing to be sniffed at!

Battle Croquet

Now, this is a very competitive sport - clearly there are two sides - each with their own field marshall, and an agenda to try to knock that little ball off the egg-cup - shaped throne. And we tried to keep track of who the winning team was, we really did - but on the day, there was such a flurry of fezzes being flung, bouquets of flowers being hurled energetically, and boisterous barging going on that we aren't really sure if there were any survivors at all. However, we are certain there were several wining teams on the day - and if they know that they did win, and they did indeed survive beyond the bomb warden and the strict eye of at least four referees, we would like to congratulate them

Champion Ostrich racer with the golden voice

This time, the weather was just perfect for Ostrich Racing, and with both halves of Dare to be Charlie daring to be proper charlies - Daren Callow and Charlie Savigar raced one other hopeful in the epic race down the high street. We try to race the ostriches through various obstacles: down the stairs, through That Tiny Doorway in the pub, across a pelican crossing, and through a market filled with snakes and spiders...yet undaunted and spectacularly grinning all the way, Charlie Savigar, the singer with the golden voice came undeniably first! Congratulations, Charlie! James Obi Ron Medhurst took these perfectly timed photos of the race - thanks James!

This was not a fix - honest, guv!

It has taken seven Convivials for Barnabus the elephant to actually win anything, but the intrepid little chap appears to have won the Splendid Teapot Racing! With Navigator Ben Henderson at the controls, there were a few cries of, "Fix!" "Cheat!" and other comments about the dubious authenticity of the birthday boy winning, however, firm but fair compere Mssr. Darren Gooding declared the winner - noting that the wheels had been heavily improved with the new coating to the wheels - rubber provided by a doormat procured at the poundshop.
